Bisdi
Persistent live distribution of FreeBSD
Bisdi is a cloud-optimized distribution of stock FreeBSD with a custom kernel based on MINIMAL.
Sides
Mini filesystems providing service configurations
Sides are diskless classes, which are heavily leveraged by Bisdi.
Original software
${project_name} actively develops and maintains code bases for a variety of platforms and purposes.
FreeBSD utilities
Most of these titles were authored to accomplish Bisdi. Currently they are only available from Depot, our cross-platform FreeBSD package repository.
Web applications
- Radio Station
Runway
Headless Wayland desktop
Runway is more like a recipe, although there are original programs involved. It was written to provide a persistent graphical session containing many remote terminal sessions on a resource-deprived VPS.
- Sway runs on the VPS host in a VNC server.
- The user creates an encrypted SSH tunnel and connects to the VNC server with any VNC client.
Custom FreeBSD builds
B kernel
The B kernel adds some key features missing from GENERIC. On amd64, it is based on MINIMAL so virtually everything is loaded as a module, meaning virtually everything can also be unloaded.
Annex packages
Annex is a build profile, expressed as a make(1) configuration, which replaces pulseaudio with sndio, resulting in a system without pulseaudio.
